Assistant Project Manager Needed
Norfolk County Council are looking for an Assistant Flood and Water Project Manager for our Reclaim the Rain project.

After being awarded the funding from Defra, the Reclaim the Rain Project Team was formed.
Working closely with the Flood and Water Management Team, the post holder will be supported by a talented and varied team of professionals who are all willing to help them succeed. Reclaim the Rain is a 6-year long project which seeks to develop sustainable ways of managing water, including risk from both flooding and droughts.
Your role and responsibilities
As an Assistant Flood and Water Project Manager you will playing a key role in successfully delivering Reclaim the Rain by:
assisting the Project Manager in the development of three case study sites across Norfolk
project managing small-scale works, to reduce identified flood risk, sustainably manage water resources, contractors and liaising with partners and the public
working collaboratively with agencies, consultants, communities, businesses and landowners
supporting with data collection and analysis in order to report findings back to Defra
forming part of an enthusiastic team, committed to the idea of delivering new and exciting ideas with the potential to change national policy and legislation.
You will need:
to be educated to degree level or equivalent experience in a relevant subject
project management skills and experience to support the design and delivery of solutions to flood risk, working with partner organisations, contractors and communities
the ability to assess complex situations, influence and negotiate with a range of stakeholders to achieve appropriate solutions and make recommendations to decision makers
to possess a working knowledge and the application of relevant legislation, policies and best practice for the management of surface water and flood risk
excellent communication and time management skills.

The team
This role will be based in the Flood and Water Management Team that acts as the Lead Local Flood Authority.
You will have the opportunity to regularly collaborate with teams across the Council, Norfolk County Council, local planning authorities, the Environment Agency, water companies, other partners, the public and elected representatives all working to deliver Reclaim the Rain.
You will work alongside passionate and experienced staff from across Norfolk and Suffolk County Councils who are all committed to promoting sustainable water management solutions.
