knowing which areas are at risk of flooding
FOREWARNED IS FOREARMED
By using computer models, the Environment Agency and county councils assess long term flood risk from rivers, the sea, surface water and in some areas, groundwater. This gives a general indicator of an area’s risk, though isn’t suitable for identifying whether an individual property will flood.
You can use their interactive tool to see the flood risk in your area by clicking here.
Knowing A Flood Is Coming
The Government provides a free service where you can get flood warnings sent to you by phone, email, or text message. To Get it All you need to provide is:
The address you’re registering
A phone number you can be contacted on
An email address
It’s important to remember flash flooding can occur with almost no warning and can be difficult to predict. However, this service can help provide a good indicator.
